Moore Stephens Consulting has worked with the London Fire Brigade for many years, developing systems to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness across the fire service.

Having already developed a fully integrated suite of applications to support the activities of the UK fire and rescue services, the natural progression was to develop applications that are truly mobile and extend the benefits of single point of entry, data accuracy and resilience and reduction of administrative effort into the field.

Moore Stephens Consulting has been working with fire services to develop a series of mobile applications for all tablets and smartphone operating systems.

The first to be released in this series is the Premises Risk Assessment application which replaces the paper-based and administration intensive process currently in place within the London Fire Brigade, enabling the workforce to submit information on site at the point of review.

Other systems under development include:
  • Operational Risk Assessment
  • Incident Monitoring & Data Collection
  • Hydrant Inspections
  • Home Fire Safety Visits
In addition to tablet-based line-of-business applications, we are also working on smartphone applications to provide a more self-service approach to various activities relevant to fire and rescue service personnel.  These include:

Standard Functionality
  • View current working shift pattern and team (mini Rotabook view)
  • View current leave balance and enter absence requests
  • Specify availability for additional shifts (e.g. ops overtime)
  • Geo-tagging built-in to the application

  • Individuals able to update their own availability for future shifts, for example a Rotabook view of their station where they can change their entries between day/night/rota shifts

  • Individuals to receive shifts becoming available, with option to work additional shifts
  • Station Managers to receive alerts when stations fall below optimal crewing level (minimum ridership)
  • Line managers to receive requests for leave, with ability to action requests

Flexi-Working (where an FRS has adopted this approach)
  • Ability to clock in/out, plus a summary view of hours worked by year/month and current flexi balance
